The film portrayal of Henry Rice's interview conveyed the same laid back feel of a New York dive bar as the reading. The actress' thick accent and hunched over, relaxed posture showed she was committed to portraying the character of a young care-free New York man. He uses slang like "Uncle Tom" to indicate radical freedom fighters and indicate his stance in the riot situations as someone who'd rather work behind the scenes and not draw attention to himself. The setting includes low lighting, indicative of slow paced restaurant, as well as classic New York swing jazz playing in the background. The actress is wearing a baseball cap and an over sized varsity jacket with a beer in her hand, all giving her a hip, young, modern city look. Everything from the slouched way she sits to the words audiences can make out through her talking with a mouth full of hamburger set a relaxed scene which seems to try and ease audiences into the rather shocking and horrific events that she witnessed on Albany Avenue. Getting handcuffed and beat over the head with a stick may seem extreme for some while reading this story, but how she tells it makes it seem like just another day in the life of a freedom fighter for her.
